This appears to be
a picture of an ordinary sheep. But this sheep happens to be Dolly, the
first mammal to be cloned using an adult cell. Since her debut to the world
in 1997, she has continued to dominate much ethical and scientific debate,
even till today. The successful cloning of Dolly has huge implications for
society. One is the possibility of human cloning. While human clones have
already been on Earth since the history of mankind in the natural form of
the identical twin, what seems the most frightening to people is the
potential to produce a clone of a person several years, even several
generations apart. |
